Hi All

i’ve got a dead, will not power up, sharespace.

I had a RAID5 setup with a lot of data that I would like yo salvage.

If I buy a new SP and swap out the disks, will the RADI5 rebuild and will my files be available again ?

I would contact wd and see what they have to say.  any raid full rebuild usually involves wiping the data, except with raid 1.

I vaguely remember reading that some have had success taking their drives to a linux machine and rebuiling on that. But maybe I’m wrong. I often am… :frowning:

So anybody can explain, if your unit dead and you try to put all HDD’s to another unit is it works or not? Can you recover data or not? Is there any way to recover data from dead unit without linux???
