Dead Drive after just a week

I bought 2 Mybook essential 1TB USB 3 just a week ago

both seemed fine. This morning one of the drives is not

working. Windows 7 64 bit doesn’t  see it. I have tried changing power

cable, USB cable, tried it on my XP laptop, everthig I can think of

and I can’t get it to work. The light comes on on the drive and I can hear a slight

whiring coming from it for a few sec. I’m sure it will have to go back but

is there anyway I can get the files off it first?

Have you checked disk management if the drive is recognized? If it is not listed there you can try to have data recovery to get your files.
