Data volume failed to mount

I am seeing a “Data volume failed to mount” error message and a red light on the fornt of my WD My Cloud. I tried the steps listed at this link http://community.wd.com/t5/My-Book-Live/Data-Volumes-failed-to-Mount/m-p/556170/highlight/true#M20534, but had no luck.

I also tried to do a full factory restore and a hard reset from the button on the back of the device.

I dont care for the files on the device. How can I just reformat and repartition the device?

Hi gappie, welcome to the WD Community. Have you tried using another Ethernet cable?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Why would another ethernet cable make any difference with this problem? The NAS is connected via a router to my PC.

Use nfodiz’s Debrick procedure.

A Red light will appear when there is no Ethernet cable connected or a faulty one is used. You can also check the guide that Tony is referring too.
