Data Security & RMA

Hello.  So I have a HDD that is better suited for a door stop or anchor right now.  I am going to RMA the driver but I am curious to know about data security.  I have some semi-sensistive data on the disc - is there any way to remove it now that the drive is dead?

I suppose the only sure fire way to be on it’s security is to NOT RMA the drive but I don’t know if I would say it’s that sensitive.

How can I wipe the drive or scamble the data currently on the dead HDD?

A strong magnet should corrupt it.  However, you don’t need to worry about data security when RMA’ing our drives.  When they’re put into the machine that checks their status, it will automatically wipe the drive.  If the drive can’t spin up, it’s opened and the platters, motor, heads are trashed.  We do not do any in house data recovery.
