Data loss - data lost after copied into a partition

Hi , I wanted to raise an issue of data lost after copying general files and photos into a partition about 40GB of a hard disk until it was full and PC Explorer shown red. When clicking the partition, data inside it was empty, and not a single files can be seen. This single hard disk 1TB was partitioned into three. The other two partitions did not show the empty data file symptom.
Is the empty file in the partition suggesting the hard disk was corrupted? Thanks for the reply.
