Data Lifeguard Diagnostics not showing WD external HD!

Data Lifeguard Diagnostics  (DLD) is not showing my WD external HD. Have tried on two different machines, one running Win7 and the other XP. Both machines are successfully backing up to the same external HD over a wireless connection. DLD has tested the internal HD on both machines.

Question: Does DLD only work using a directly wired connection to an external HD. (If so Why doesn’t Western Digital make it known, or am I missing something?)

If DLD should work for an external HD on a wireless connection, any ideas how I can achieve this?

For DLG for Windows to work with a external drive the unit must be connected directly to the computer via the USB cable.
