I have the a WD40EFRX 4GB disk drive. As far as I know the disk itself is in perfect working order. The problem lies with the SATA signal connector. When connecting the SATA cable, it does not click into place. Closer inspection reveals that the rightmost 3 of 7 pins (with the 15 power pins on the left) are without the underlying black plastic casing, and the rightmost pin is bent forward.
I live near Gosford in NSW.

The SATA connector on your WD40EFRX 4TB drive is damaged, causing connection issues. Try realigning the pins, using a different SATA cable, or an external SATA to USB adapter. If that doesn’t work, you might need to replace the connector or consider professional data recovery services. Once connected, back up your data.
