Customer Loyalty Program suspended?

I tried to acces the customer loyalty site and I get a session error, has this program been reinstated?

Yes, it has been reinstated.  If you get another error, can you email a picture of what the error says to moderator@wdc.com.

A few months later, I get the same “invalid or session expired” error-message.

We are looking into this.  However, there are some things you may need to try to make sure it’s not a browser issue on your side.

  1. Delete your temporary internet files and history
  2. Make sure that you have your cookies enabled
  3. Enable Javascript
  4. Make sure you’re running IE8 or higher.  Or the latest version of FF or Chrome

What version of browser are you using?  What OS?

I got a telephone call from a W.D. support person.

I let him use ‘GoToAssist.com’ to view my screen.

I demonstrated the problem, using both Google Chrome and IE11 on Windows 7.

Sigh.

Then, together, we “registered” the serial-number of my DEAD W.D. disk-drive.

Once registered, there was an “upgrade” link beside the listing for my disk-drive.

Clicking that hyperlink BYPASSED the problem.

YAY!

Unfortunately for me, the cost-plus-$18-shipping-plus-possible-USA/CAN-brokerage-fees,

and the recent devaluation of the Canadian dollar ($1 CAN <-> $0.90 USA),

made it non-economic for me to purchase a WD 1.5TB Green 3.5-inch SATA drive,

i.e., cheaper to buy locally from BESTBUY/FUTURESHOP.

Anyway, great support from W.D.  !!!

The technician forgot to tell me to “uninstall” the GoToAssist software – no need to “clutter” my computer with software that I probably will never re-use.

P.S. My disk-drive was “out-of-warranty”.  There was a suggestion on the web-site that if I “upgraded” a WD drive that *WAS* still in warranty, I might have been offered better pricing.  THIS IS SOMETHING TO REMEMBER!!!
