Create new volume on new drive, internal backup/mirror cloud

Hello, I am new to clouds and need some guidance. I have read the manual and several message board posts but could use a bit of clarity.

Recently one of my hard drives in my Ex 2 Cloud went bad and I replaced with with a similar hard drive - red WD 3 tb. I removed the old drive, inserted the new one in the top, ran the disk scan and it all looks good. It shows a blue light on the front, and under storage->disk status I can see the drive.

Here is where it gets murky.

As I understand it, I need to:

– Create new volume virualization
– Create new share folder on the new volume
– Then go to backups->internal storage

I’m just worried because on a few message boards I read that doing that may format the other volume I already have in there.

Any guidance or clarification? I feel like I’m almost on the right track but there are a lot of important documents on my drive and losing them would be devastating to me. Thank you in advance
