Copying Windows folder - starting off WD My Passport

I tried to copy the Windows folder to my 2TB MyPassport drive but was given a message “You need permission from TrustedInstaller to copy this folder”

This is my personal laptop running Windows10. My goal was to create an alternate start up drive, for use if the internal drive crashed.

What do I do?

Hi,

Sounds like you are trying to copy a protected folder.

Check your files and make sure you take ownership and that they are not protected.

How do I do that? I am not very windows literate (former Mac OS 6-8 user)

I’m about 98% done copying Windows to My Passport. I navigated thru changing permissions away from TrustedInstaller. Now, it says I need permission to copy iis_gather. I’ve searched for how to do this, but I’m not finding any help. I now know what it IS, but I can’t find where or how to get permission to copy it. Is it really important to have?
