Constant disconnecting by 2 sec when streaming movies using SAMBA

Hi. I Have 2 TB My Cloud and about a week ago I noticed freezing during watching movies on my PC. OS is Windows 8.1 and I am tried different players (PowerDVD, Total Media Theatre, MPC). My Cloud and PC are connected to ASUS N65U router, 1000 Mb Full Duplex both, 100 Mb IPoE internet. mesages log says constant 2-3 seconds link down-up cycle. Any ideas how to fix this? P.S. sorry for my poor english

Look at the LEDs on both your Asus and your Cloud.   Are the Link LEDs (not the Activity LEDs) going off and on?

If so, you have a hardware issue – either the Cloud, Cable, or ASUS have a problem.

Try a different port on the Asus.   Try a different cable.

Etc.

I’ll try to catch a moment of disconnect and look at led. But there is nothing at router"s log (no DHCP renew ask or something).

Added: Yep, Link LED going off and on. I will try  a different port and cable.

Maybe instead of a different cable you could exchange something else

Things to try

  1. check date/time on both router and your cloud.

  2. set static ip on cloud (be careful on entering the values right), preferably set the ip outside DHCP range as reported by another user. eg. set to 192.168.0.199 on cloud and dhcp range is 192.168.0.10-150

Yep, it was faulty stock ethernet cable. Changing it to another solved my problem So far so good) :smileyvery-happy:

Did you try what a cable tester indicates for the previous cable?

I am not so sure that it was a cable, it could as well be weather conditions
