Following up on this issue, after several months of chasing this, I finally got through to somebody in Samsung that actually understood the problem AND spoke English (will wonders never cease). Apparently, Samsung engineering is aware of this issue, but does not consider it to be sufficiently prevalent to actually create a solution.
