Connection help.predicament

I have a set of computer 5.1 speakers that are plugged in via front, rear, sub outputs. the WD TV with HDMI, optical, and rca outputs. and a new HDTV.

my question is that, is there a way to get them connected.

I was thinking about having a 5.1 audio converter to toslink which would be connected between the speakers and WD TV media player. then i would connect the HDMI between the WD TV to the HDTV. does that sound plausible? will it work? i would rather not opt to get a receiver since i already have the computer speakers

That won’t happen.  You will need to either connect the WD TV directly to your TV, or get a receiver

Hi What I did was this…pc speakers have the amp and all the speakers connected to it right? Then from pc you connect the audio cables from sound card to speaker amp right? Well insted of audio card from pc you connect your flat panels speaker out jacks to the amp. Now I dont know if that will have a 5.1 output probably not ! Even if its just left and right stereo connect them and let the amp do the rest. Then whatever you play onto the HDTV you will hear on the speakers. Basically you have to work with what you have right? Apart from that to get true 5.1 sound you would need to buy an Amp 5.1 variety, input from Media player with optical/coaxial to amp and another set of speakers. As other reply has suggested…cheers and good luck…
