Connecting the WD TV to an USB-drive that is connected directly to the router

I  have an USB drive connected directly to the network router ( so I don’t have to have a computer or server running all the time to access it) The problem is that the WD TV is not able to see it, it is not a network share in the normal sense. If i connect it to my computer and share it then it is visable to the WD TV.

The problem is that to access the USB from any computer when it is attached to the router I have to give explorer the IP number 000.000.0.0\USB and there dosent seem to be possible to give an network adress to the WD TV.

Does anyone know if it is possible to “point” the WD TV towards a specific network resource via an IP-number?

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
