Connecting My passport to Acer Aspire laptops

I have two laptops.

I am unable to get any response from My Passport external drive when i connect it to Acer Aspire 5251-1513.

I do get a response when I connect the passport drive to Acer Aspire One 722.

Is there something I should be doing differently?

It might be a power issue. Contact customer service and ask about a power  booster cable.
