Connecting and Disconnecting the cable to the drive

Is it possible to connect the cable to the drive at the time of using and disconnecting the cable from the drive after use??

Will it affect the life of the drive??

Please tell ypur suggestions.

Presuming you mean a portable drive such as a MyPassport, yes it is perfectly possible. As long as you’re careful when you do it, it shouldn’t affect the drive at all (in terms of wear and tear on the USB3 port on the drive itself). My MyPassport drive is routinely stored in an Amazon Basics case for it along with the cable (unplugged from it but stored with it), and it’s been going now for a long time without issues.

Of course the key point is to ensure that you safely eject/stop the drive via the machine’s OS first, and wait for the message that it is safe to disconnect it. You can’t just pull the cable out randomly, or else you risk corrupting the drive and losing its content.
