WD’s PCBs store unique, drive specific, “adaptive” data in “ROM”, either in a discrete 8-pin serial flash memory IC, or embedded with the Marvell MCU. This chip, or its contents, need to be transferred from patient to donor. Some PCB suppliers include such a service for free. The total cost should not be more than US$50.
Alternatively, see my FAQ for sources for the TVS diode and then ask your local TV/AV repair shop if they will replace it for you.
