Connect My Book Live drive directly to PC

What is the best cable to use when recovering data from the SATA drive in the My Book Live? I would like to remove the drive and connect it to my Windows PC. I prefer not to have to open the PC to make the connection. Is there an effective USB cable option?

Will I need any special software to access the drive to copy my files?

My drive is still functioning, but the board that controls network access has died.

Please note that the MBL is a network drive and it should be used with the Ethernet cable attach to your router.

If you are able to access the drive, you should be able to copy the files manually, copy and paste.
