Configuring RAID 1 + JBOD on WD My Cloud PR4100

291 / 5.000

I have a WD MY CLOUD PR 4100 with raid 1 (two 12 tb on drive one and drive two)). then I have a separate backup hard drive of 14 tb capacity that I will install on drive 3 or 4 as a jbod for backup raid 1. how do I install it without losing data on both

You can install the 14TB drive as a separate JBOD without losing the data on your existing RAID 1, as long as you don’t change or expand the current array. Shut down the PR4100, insert the new drive into Bay 3 or 4, and power it back on. In the dashboard, go to Storage → RAID and create a new volume using only the new disk, choosing JBOD. Do not select any option to expand, convert, or rebuild the existing RAID, since that can erase data. Once created, the RAID 1 on Bays 1 and 2 will remain unchanged, and the 14TB drive will appear as a separate volume that you can use for backups.

Thank you very much for the instructions given. To avoid any risk, I backed up my data first. After that, I followed the instructions very carefully, and finally, Volume 2 was created as a 14 TB JBOD as I expected, and my old data on Raid 1 in Volume 1 remained safe. Once again, thank you very much My Best friend Kencarter556 and my problem solved.
