I has a ASUS P7P55D-E Pro with two USB 3.0 conectors. My 500 gb WD HD my PASSPORT ESSENTIAL model WDBACY5000ABK-NESN conected that port USB 3.0. Windows Explorer recognize it well but the transfer rate is very slow, not spected for a USB 3.0 rate… I configure the ASUS motherboard driver for USB 3.0.

What rate are you getting?

You will, of course no where near the theoretical maximum.
