Computer nont recognzing external drive

I’ve tried each of the USB ports on my laptop,  None of them are reading the external drive as an external drive.  They are reading it as drive F.  I need to put all of my photos onto the drive so I can clean up my harddrive.

This unit should be accessible like a normal USB drive on the computer, what happens when you double click on the drive F unit? Also pleas let us know what operating system you are using so we can have the most information possible available.

I get an error message stating that’s there’s a fatal flaw or error

Also operating system is Windows 8.1

this is what it is saying when I try to open it…F:\ is not accessable
The parameter is incorrect.
