I just purchased a 1 TB My Passport Essential USB HDD. I used the WDSmartWare program to set a password. So, as expected, I now have to use the Unlock program on the “CD” to open it up.

My question is, can I provide the password via a .BAT file? I’d like my backup script to unlock the drive at the start of the backup process and then to re-lock it when it is complete.

If there is documentation of command line parameters that would allow this, please point me toward it.

I don’t think you can do that with that drive.

Well mate, I think you will need to contact WD directly for this…

Na, you do not neet to contact WD for this, Pizza is right, you cannot use a .BAT to enter your password automatically.
