I had to power cycle after the FW 4 upgrade (white light for more than 60 min). do I have to check the file system for errors now? Is the quick check something like chkdsk, or should i use ssh?

To my understanding chkdsk is a command that you can use on local disks.
Not sure if you will be able to use that command on a network drive.
Have you tried resetting the device through the reset button?
