Cloning Windows 10 onto WD Blue SN550

I haven’t cloned Windows 10 to a SSD drive before, only a HDD.

I purchased the WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD 1TB to install on a Lenovo Ideapad 81W1 with a 256GB SSD m.2 2242 PCLE NVMe 3.0x2 SSD card.

With the WD Blue SSD card, what kind of adapter should I purchase to be able to clone to the SSD directly? Or can I run a backup/clone of the current OS to an external drive and partition the WD Blue SSD from there?

Hello all,

Would love to get some help with this issue.

After cloning my Windows 10 to the WD Blue SN550 1TB, the operation ended with an inaccessible boot device error, and the code 0xc0000225.

Was this error possibly caused by a corrupted clone?

Or could it be that the SN550 SSD is not compatible with the hardware in my Lenovo Ideapad 81W1 that has a 256GB SSD m.2 2242 PCLE NVMe 3.0x2 SSD card.

They both are NVMe, but one is SN550 while the other is 2242, there are slightly different chip connectors but it does fit into the slot on the Ideapad. Do I need a different SSD?
