I have the original wd red 3tb with pending sectors, I’ve bought an offline hdd cloner and cloned the drive to another 3tb drive. When I connect the new drive up it doesn’t get past the booting stage, no ip or anything. I’ve tried the 40 second reset several times. The original still boots up fine. Windows shows both drives are arranged the same, partition wise and wont mount the new drive as its identical.
Do you have a first gen single bay My Cloud (P/N: WDBCTLxxxxxxx-00)? Or a second gen single bay My Cloud (P/N: WDBCTLxxxxxxx-10)? If second gen you can try using the USB recovery method to restore the firmware if it is corrupted on the cloned hard drive. (See this link)
Sometimes those direct offline clone drive docks (if that’s what you used) don’t always properly clone a drive. You may need to try using something like CloneZilla (https://clonezilla.org/) or similar cloning software. And sometimes one may have to try the cloning several times before it sticks.
Also note that if the original source drive firmware is corrupted or damaged the clone will simply copy that corruption to the new drive. Put the original drive back in the single bay My Cloud enclosure and see if it works.
The original drive still works, it’s just very slow loading the os but once up its completely fine.
I’m trying Victoria at the moment which is remapping the errors to read parts of the drive and then I’ll try my offline cloner and then clonezilla if the issue still happens. Quick test was fine but it’s finding quite a few errors at the start of the drive (where the os would be) in the full scan and slowly remapping happily. (although drive speed itself is fine)
