Changing HDD in WD My Book Studio (Aluminium) USB 3.0 - always 1 TB size?

Hello, I recently acquired a used WD My Book Studio (Aluminium) USB 3.0 (WDBMHL0040HAL-01), which contained a WD 1 TB drive.

Now, if I want to exchange this for another WD drive, the Studio always reports it as a 1 TB drive, even if I install a 2 TB or a 4 TB drive. Also Disk Utility in macOS can only create 1 TB partitions.

What can I do? This seems strange as the enclose was originally delivered with a 4 TB drive.
