How do I change the settings for my back ups? I have a new external hard drive, and I’m learning how to use it. I want to make sure that all my files are being backed up.

There are many external hard drive types – Passport, My Book, Element. Please tell us which and what computer type and Operating System. What backup software? WD Smartware or Wd Backup. In either case check on the help Help Tab to learn more.
Also go to Knowledge Base and search there for help.

You open your software: WD Backup. If you haven’t got it download it from the tab at the top. Install it. WD Smartware is no longer supported. As I said before READ the Help. It tells you how to save your files and how to recover them.
