Change in Wifi Network Name

Hi,

I have a WD MyCloud that I’ve had for over 10 years. My building recently had a wi-fi upgrade and I was given a new network name. I am now unable to access my MyCloud network/files. Can anyone help?

That’s normal with those older WD units, they don’t handle network changes very well. Your WD My Cloud is still linked to the old Wi-Fi/network, so now it’s basically sitting on a different “island.”

To fix it, is to reconnect it directly to your router with an Ethernet cable (don’t rely on Wi-Fi). Then log into your router and check the connected devices list to find its new IP address, and access it from a browser using that IP. If it doesn’t show up, just power cycle both the NAS and router. If you still can’t reach it, press the reset button on the My Cloud (short press, not full reset) to refresh network settings without wiping data. Once it’s back on the new network, your files should show again like before.
