Caviar Green - True image errors

I have installed my new 2TB Caviar Green drive, and run True Image WD edition to install the new drive. This went OK, and I was able to set up & format 4 partitions which windows 7 ultimate 64 recognises OK. However when I try to clone my existing 320gb drive with 4 partitions, aftyer getting the usual warning about there being usefull information on the partitions and clicking ok, I get the following error message after the cloning operation starts:

Details: Failed to prepare operations. Error code:10 ‘File system error is found’ with extended code: 458,780 ‘Run list corrupted’

More information can be found at: http//kb.acronis.com/errorcode

Event code:0x000A001+0x0007001C

I have looked on the acronis site, and in the forums, but there is no mention of this error code anywhere.  Help please!!!

I am running on a self built PC, Asus M4N82 Deluxe Motehrboard, 2 x ASUS EAH5670 Graphics Cards, AMD Phenom 2 x6 1100T, 4 x 2GB corsair memory with a samsung 321 (320GB hard drive) which I am trying to upgrade to the Caviar Green 2TB

Before Acronis True Image can clone your existing drive, it checks the integrity of its file system. That’s where it is falling down. I suggest you run CHKDSK in read-only mode. Depending on what you find, you could then decide whether you would like CHKDSK to repair any problems. If there are a large number of bad sectors, then I would recommend against using CHKDSK to repair your file system. Instead you could backup any critical files, or image your drive sector-by-sector and then work on the clone.

You could also examine your drive’s SMART report. Look for reallocated, pending, or uncorrectable sectors.

Thanks for the info…  only thing is when i run chkdsk, a window opens then vanishes…what am i doing wrong?

Hard disk sentinel shows a warning on current pending sector count (line no 197)…  how do I remapp them?

I now have a stable command prompt window, but when I try to run CHKDSK, and have the following result:

C:\Windows\system32\chkdsk

The type of the file system is NTFS.

Volume label is Master

WARNING!  F parameter not specified

CAn anyone help me as to what to do next to recover the corrupt sectors, or to bypass them so I can get this drive cloned?

CHKDSK isn’t reporting many errors, so I would use “CHKDSK /F” to repair the file system. However, I would backup your important files just to be completely safe.

As for the SMART data, I find them a little puzzling because although there are some very large raw numbers (eg Hardware ECC Recovered), the normalised values are still at their maximums.

Furthermore, attributes 13 and 201 are both identified as Soft Read Error Rate, yet the former has a raw value of 000003AEEBC7 (which is identical to Hardware ECC Recovered) while the latter is 0.

The pending sectors should be automatically remapped when the OS writes to them. When this happens, the drive knows that the original data are no longer important. It then retests the pending sectors and returns them to service if good, or reallocates their LBAs to spare sectors if confirmed bad.
