Hi I wonder if ay member here has had experience aligning a Caviar Green EARS Advanced Format 1.5GB drive in an external non-WD USB enclosure using the software listed at: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=805 Though officially not supported, it seems that the WD Align Acronis CD may work properly on such a drive hosted in a third-party USB enclosure. Your feedback is most welcome!
The best recommendation I could make is to partition and format it with Acronis before you put it in the case. WD Acronis is designed to look for our drives, and if it doesn’t recognize one our drives it won’t work.
Alt-T-O (Technical Override) is claimed to work around identification issues for some other OEM Acronis products.
