Caviar Black RAID

I have WD1002 drive @7200rpm (2009). Win7Pro + large desktop file is slow to load. If I add a 2nd Black drive in a RAID-1 or RAID-0 array, will it substantially improve? What if I replace with a 4Tb Black? How about a 10,000 RPM VelociRaptor 1Tb drive? Finally, what about a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD? Interested in reliability and value.

Hello comdoc,

Unfortunately, WD VelociRaptor drive has gone under End of Life and WD is no longer manufacturing these drives.
you can go with Black internal drives primarily as they are best known for the performance on desktop.

Thanks asp73. If I go back to Black, it will be a 4Tb capacity. Longevity and reliability is a consideration–and my present Black 1Tb HDD has given 9 years of service. I wish there was an SSD that could do that for a decent price.
