Cant update MBL

hi all.

i am trying to update my mbl through ssh, so that i can install the build-essentail package to install the NO-IP DUC, but i keep running into problems.

MyBookLive:/# sudo apt-get install build-essential

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
build-essential: Depends: libc6-dev but it is not going to be installed or
                            libc-dev
Depends: gcc (>= 4:4.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: g++ (>= 4:4.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: make but it is not going to be installed
Depends: dpkg-dev (>= 1.13.5) but it is not going to be installed
  libc6-ppc64: Depends: libc6 (= 2.13-38) but 2.11.2-2 is to be installed
  locales: Depends: glibc-2.13-1
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

so i tried some other things as suggessted on the net, and even with apt-get update i get

MyBookLive:/# apt-get update

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

i have tried to enter the keys into the MBL with a command that i cant remember, but that didnt work.

and when i try apt-get upgrade i get:

MyBookLive:/# apt-get upgrade

how do i correct this? i know very little about linux in general. but am learning.

also, i had all the same problems, so i tried to update the firmware to the latest from WD, and still all the same errors and problems.

cheers

Hello,

SSH is not supported by WD but maybe some of the users can help you with this.

Please note that using SSH on the drive voids the warranty on it

all good mate. im not fussed about the waranty. the device was purchased as i needed a 3tb hdd at the time, and these wer cheaper to shuck then a drive cost. the fact that i can now re-use it, is just money for jam. and im stoked that i can. as it saves me buying another NAS device.

but i want to be able to run the NO-IP DUC. just cant seem to get the files to work that i need to in order to install it.

cheers

Jason
