Can't recover incremental Acronis file backups

In May 2024, I configured my new WD MyCloud EX with Acronis True Image for Western Digital (ATIWD), Version 2023, Build 39676. I was successfully taking full file backups monthly, and incremental file backups nightly.

My laptop recently died on July 29th, and I am trying to recover my files to a different PC (using the the incremental backups). I installed ATIWD on the PC, but, since it has no awareness of the Backups, I need to recover my files using Windows Explorer. For example, when I click on the most recent incremental backup file:

Allison_Folders_inc_b4_s7_v1.tib

I am shown a list of backups, including the latest one, which is called:

Backup Sun, Jul 28 24 06:44:03

I am trying to recover the backed up PST fle for 7/28. Drilling into the backup shown above, two things happen - either I

  1. Get an endless series of “Locate the volume with number 1” windows. I have tried pointing it to various Backup files (including the full version of Backup 4), with varying results, or
  2. I finally get to the Outlook PST (C:.…Allison>Documents>Outlook Files) which is approx. 9 GB. But when I attempt to drag/drop it into a new folder, it is always smaller - sometimes a few GB, sometimes only 256k.

What am I dong wrong?

Checks incremental backup files for corruption. Backup files are usually stored in a specific format and can be checked via Acronis built-in tools.
