Can't read data from WD ELEMENTS

Hi,

I Have Wd Elements(1TB) for a few months. Recently I had a problem. My Laptop recognizes the device but can’t read the data from it. The notification that appears when I connect the device is “You need to format the disk in drive…before you can use it”. 

Is there any way I can save the data that I had on it?

I would be grateful for any help

Hello and welcome to the community,

Make sure you have the drive plugged in directly into the USB port on the computer, avoid any USB hubs. If possible use only the supplied USB cable.

If you still have the same issue then it is possible the partition is corrupted. It may be possible to still extract the data utilizing data recovery software. There are several kinds of Data Recovery software available. If you do a web search for Data Recovery it will yield plenty of data recovery software options.
