Can't open File

I transferred files to my Passport for Mac & when I try to open them I get : There was a RAISE without handler??? I also get "File could not be opened may be damaged or use a file format preview doesn’t recognize, I also get Error 50 when trying to open some file from Passport.  Can someone please help me.  I had all of these files in a generic external drive & never had a problem.  Do I have to start this process all over???

In the interest of troubleshooting, how were the files copied into your WD Passport for Mac? Do you encounter the same error message when you first copy the files into your system and then proceed to open them?
