Can't locate itunes playlists on external HD

My old computer took a dive and I had just backed up everything on my external hard drive. I can’t seem to locate my playlists to put them on my new computer. Any advice? Tried to do a retreival with the existing itunes on new computer, but it didn’t work.

If you used Smartware for your backup it may not have backed up Itunes stuff. It only backs up select file types by default not all of the data on a drive.

It backed up all of my Itunes music and there is an Itunes folder, but I can’t seem to figure out if the playlists are there. I have tried a bunch of Itunes problem solving to no avail. I really hope I haven’t lost them forever. I spent a lot of time on those **bleep** playlists.
