Can't install Print Share software

I am struggling to install the WD Print Share software.

The software initiates and shows some progress.  Then Notepad starts up with “WD Print Share.msi” opening.  Eventually the software hangs, until I close Notepad, after which it tells me “Installation Complete” - but it isn’t.

My router is the My Net N900 Central.  I have admin rights and I’m using Windows Vista with SP2.  The printer is attached to the router, and is switched on.  I have disabled my anti-virus software prior to installing.

Is my printer incompatible?  It’s quite an old one: Canon Pixma iP2600.

Any advice gratefully received, thanks.
