Can't delete files in private share that begin with a tilde ~

A number of Microsoft products produce temp files that begin with: ~ or ~$

These files can be deleted from a public share.

They cannot be deleted from a private share, either through the WD web interface or WD Discovery.

Is there a known work-around?
