Cannot update firmware on WD TV HD Media Player (Gen 1)

Hi,

I’m having a problem watching BluRay ripped MKV files.  I get a black screen when I try to play these big files (6GB+).  I have an old firmware version 1.01.  So I downloaded the new version 1.03.01 and I tried to update it.  I found out that there is no firmware update icon in Settings.  So I’m not able to update the new firmware version.  Is there a way to do it without going through Settings?  Also is there an alternative way to change the MKV files in order to watch it?  Any help you can give would be appreciated.

If you have the correct firmware, then you don’t actually need to go into settings; it will be discovered automatically and the icon will appear on the screen.
