Cannot uninstall WDMyCloud

I have an older WDMyCloud drive. Its serial number is WCC4M1CACZ3A. The drive works fine, but I have a problem – I cannot uninstall WDMyCloud from a computer that I’m selling. When I run WDMyCloud Uninstaller, it triggers a fault.

How can I detach the computer I’m selling from my WDMyCloud account?

If you own a 1st generation WDMYCLOUD then it doesn’t have an account anymore. How do you have it connected to your network?

Return your computer to factory settings.

The My Cloud is a network attached storage device. There is nothing to “uninstall” on the computer. Simply perform a factory restore on the computer to erase all user content and programs. One should ensure any saved usernames / passwords, saved browser information and links are also removed/deleted. Some computers have a special recovery partition that will restore the computer to factory default. Consult your computer’s operating manual to see if there is a special restoration method to wipe the operating system (and user files) and restore the computer to default. Windows may have it’s own method of being reset to default erasing all user installed programs.

Some go so far as to securely erase the computer’s hard drive and then reinstall the computer’s operating system from scratch. There are various programs and methods available to securely erase a computer’s hard drive. Some will even remove the computer’s hard drive and physically destroy it before selling or giving the computer away.
