Cannot see My Photos folder

I am trying to use WD Photo app on my HTC Desire linked to my WD TV Live Media Player. All the installation seemed to go ok.

The route folder of my WD TV Live Hub contains the folders My DVDs, My Music and My Photos. I can see the other two folders in the app, but not the one I really want, My Photos. I am able to browse through the album covers of my music collection but cannot view my photographs.

What’s wrong?

Hi there, did you check the sharing permissions on the Hub and the online client? o.o

The transcoder on the live hub is set to low priority and likely is taking time converting photos. Have you tried looking at it again (just reselect the device in the Devices screen to refresh database) - do you see more photos? To get a count of total photos converted, in the app select image view (the icon at the bottom that looks like a matrix) and then select a single image. You’ll see Image x / total number of photos. That number will slowly increase over time.

Thanks for your comments. I have checked all the permissions for the various folders from my PC and they are all set to share with everybody.

My thoughts though, why should the settings from my PC affect this new relationship between my Android smartphone and the WD TV Kive Hub. The PC is not involved in that exchange and does not even need to be switched on, so I don’t understand why should permissions set on the PC affect ability of the phone to access the hub, albeit through my router?

Best wishes, Ralph

Thanks Batra.

You are right, the number of files changes in folders as time goes on, but the three folders it shows never changes. It’s always the same three, My Videos, My Music and a folder called console. Even though I clear the cash and move files and folders around on the Hub, I don’t seem to be able to change those same three folders appearing.

Crazy thing is there seems no logic to it., why those three folders all the time, why not the My Photos folder. How is this choice determined?

I will play around a bit more with changing the names and moving folders around. I may even re-format the Hub and set up a new file structure, possibly only putting one folder on the hub, the My Photos folder I want it to see.

I’ll let you know if I solve it.

It took a while but my photo’s and folders eventually turned up, amybe if you wait a while longer it may work for you too.

Good news, my photos have started to turn up. I now have 4,900 album covers to browse and about 100 photos. How do I change the setting so it doesn’t cash the My Music folder?

Currently, only photos that begin with a dot (e.g. .hidden_pic.jpg) are skipped over. However, the feature is note-worthy.  The transcoding times will improve shortly (hopefully next release). Sorry that you have to wait so long.

Thanks for repying Batra.

So let’s look at my options with regards to WD Photos:

  1. I can go through every one of my 4,600 album cover jpegs and put a dot in front of the file name so that the app ignores it.

  2. I can delete all my music foldrs from my phone but lose the abiiilty to listen to music.

  3. I can remove this useless WD Photo app from my phone and instead transfer the photos I want to view to my phone’s sd card…

I think I know which one I will do. Can you guess?
