Several years ago I copied files from my old computer onto My Passport. When I went to transfer them to the new computer their appear to be numerous files but they are all named letters of the alphabet and cannot be opened. They are all FAT32 format so I do not know if this is why or not.
If you copied the files with backup software you probably need it to access them.

Thanks for responding. I didn’t use any special software. Just followed the instruction to the external hard drive when I plugged it in. I thought the transfer process would have been more simple such as copying a file and then plugging in the drive and putting it on the new computer. It backed up everything and I can’t tell what is on there or how to open it
