Cannot get new hard drive, 4TB, to get 4TB after replacing a 2TB that went bad

I have a DL2100 and I use to have 2, 2TB drives. I have the unit in the mirror mode. One drive went bad and i replaced with a Red WD 4TB drive. It did rebuild with no problem. I did not notice at the time only 2TB was available for space. I later on when I could afford it replaced the other 2TB that was still good with a 4TB and that rebuilt fine as well. I just recently noticed that both 4TB have properties of only 2TB for space. What did I do wrong.? Is there a way to fix this without losing my data. Any help, and steps, step by step is appreciated.

You need to “expand” the volume to use the extra capacity. OR you can create another volume.

Either way, it’s best practice to backup the existing data before making any changes “just in case”.

Thank you very much for the answer… I am not sure i have enough space to do a back up… and wanted to ask a question… If I pull out one of the mirrored drives with the full data set, If I pull that out to save the data, can I still expand the remaining drive in the Dl2100 then once expanded put the one i took out back in, let them sync then take out the other and do the same to the first one I took out and take out the extended one with all data. Hope I explained this correct . Thank you so much for that link. Pretty straight forward
