Cannot format WDBAAX5000ENC with WIN XP to full capacity

I have Striker Extreme motherboard and just connected new WD 500GB drive. Win XP will only recognize drive with a capacity of 131069MB when trying to install Win XP.  BIOS states WD5000AAKS-0 drive at 500GB. SW installed OK with the 131GB.

Has anyone run across this?  Tried calling WD support but they are closed.

Researching problem found that WinXP without service packs won’t format above 137GB. Will have to make  workaround using another drive before formatting with XP with SP3

You need to upgrade to SP3 as MS had discontinued (or placing to) support for XP SP2.
