Can WD20EARS be used in Non-Raid mode in external enclosure?

Hi,

I have just learnt that if you connected desktop edition hard drive of WDC, such as WD20EARS to a RAID controller, the drive may not work correctly.  see http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1397

I now have a icy dock MB662, an external enclosure supporting raid.  However I just want to use it under JBOD(Non-Raid) mode. 

Since the problem only occurred in raid environment, I wonder if it is still ok for me to use WD20EARS in my icy dock.

I cannot get clear answer from WDC’s technical support via phone, so try to seek answer here, thanks.

Hi there, if that case can normally work with 4K sector drives then go for it, if not then the drive will be extremely slow.
