Can not access via Internet to MBL

Hi All, i have My book live 2TB…i was able to setup it and from home network all is fine i can access it and copy file on device. Porblem is that i can not access this device from any other network. I did put device in DMZ and also portforward many ports on my TP link router but no succes…i did 80, 443, 8082, 9443 , 5000 , tried many combination and it wont work…in most cases i do receive some error but when i try to put https://myrouterip:443 i receive error like UI can not be accessed etc…i have read some WD treads about it and one guy has been explaining but no luck…can not access it and i try to reboot MLB , also router few times , tried to update firmware but it says it is up to date…any hint guys what i can try and where am i doing it wrong?

Just to add this is the error i got when i try via 443 port to access

You don’t have permission to access /UI on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

That’s correct. The My Book Live doesn’t support browsing the dashboard from outside your own network.

There are “hacks” you can do by modifying the built-in webserver’s configuration, which you might be able to find searching.

If you’re wanting access to your files from outside your network, that’s what the WD My Cloud Mobile apps and WD My Cloud Desktop are for.

I have tried this app but it wont conect to my device…it can see it under my cloud window with the ip from range 192.168.1.110 which i put on my local LAN but wont conect from any other network to my device…some hint please…

Sounds like you don’t have remote access configured correctly. Double check that, as described in the manual.

Hi Tony, well i tried all but seems like i can not access device…

So what i did i gave it static IP under my LAN , conect device via LAN cable and inside network all is fine. I can see and map drives which can be accessed via various PC, on same LAN/WIFI. On router i have give port forward to many of them as described and also put DMZ to point to MBL device IP.
I have installed again this WD My cloud desktop and still nothing happens , says can not conect to device…
I did not find manual of it but i am pretty sure i did all that was needed since this is not to hard to setup.

If your router supports UPnP, there’s no need to do any of that other stuff. Particularly, using DMZ settings on routers can be very risky.

You would only need to do port forwarding if your router doesn’t support UPnP or if you’re choosing not to use it.

And if you’re doing manual port forwarding, you must also configure the same ports in the MBL, which you haven’t said you’ve done.

Tony , thanks for your time that you take for helping me , but i have done all that
UPNP and all port forward off - Wont work
Port forward on router and same ports on MBL - Wont work
automatic update of firmware wont work so i will do this later today when i am home i found out some firmware and i will try update by hand.

kinda crazy all this since i do a lot with networks and this is quite simple setup comparing to cicso things that i am working with…will try to update firmware maybe that will help , if not then i am stuck basically

automatic update of firmware wont work

Oh, wait a sec. What firmware are you using now? If it’s really old, none of the cloud apps will work because WD completely re-designed them some time ago and it required an update on older NASes to make them compatible.

Think the FM is from 2014 when this device is bought…will check tonight hope this will help me…if not i will write again here, maybe we can arange some remote session to check it out your self if possible

Hi Tony, Firmware upgrade did the trick , now i can access my device via Cloud applicaton. yeeeej
Now i have another problem , cause i can not add ( upload ) any file to my MBL from let say my computer at work.
what can now be the problem?

just some update here …over wd2go i can upload files to my drive…so just desktop app is giving me a problem it wont upload files due to some reason that i need to investigate…but do not know where to look

I am having a similar issue to connect to MBL (MyBookLive) remotely using MyCloud.com application.
MBL firmware is up-to-date and it is powered up and connected to internet on my home network
Can you please let me know what is the latest Firmware for 2TB MBL device and how I can get it?

At the same time, when trying to connect to MBL remotely using MyCloud App from my Computer, I get following messages:
"Cant Connect to MyBookLive" and also get a message stating accept your device’s security certificate. I accepted the device security certificated and I get following message: “Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from mybooklive.device346199.wd2go.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Learn more NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID”

This worries me as connection to my MBL should be secured. Otherwise what is the point of having a private cloud if one can not access it securely from remotely.

Can someone help me with resolve the issue to connect to MBL remotely and securely.
