Can I use the WD PI drive as a regular USB drive

Hi,
This is probably a stupid question, but would it be possible to use the WD Pi drive as a “regular” external backup drive connect to a PC with an USB A - USB 3.0 connector, in case I decide to dismount my Raspberry configuration.

Thanks in advance
Robert

Hey there, @Rob_Binet!

Yes, of course, you can use the WD PiDrive as an external backup HDD. Connecting the PiDrive can happen either through an USB 3.0 connector or a portable USB 3.0 HDD enclosure, if you decide to dismount the RaspberryPi.
However, always remember that “backup” means that you have your data stored in at least two different storage locations. Moving data from your system drive to an external hard drive is not a backup, unless there is already a duplicate of the files on a different drive.

I hope this helps you! Best of luck!
