I’ve successfully done a backup with the WD Smartware software. However, I’m interested in doing an image backup using either the backup program that came with Vista or Acronis True Image. So, is this possible? I presume that when Smartware makes the backup it markes each filed as backed up. So, if I then use another backup program- that too will mark all files as backed up upon completion. So, 2 backup programs can’t both be used? Or do they manage to stay out of each other’s way?
Smartware will only back up the files on your PC. You can use the rest of the drive to store anything you’d like, so if you want to use another utility to create a backup you most likely can. This would of course depend on the specific program, but the ones you mentioned shouldn’t have an issue.
