I have a Western Digital My Book Essential 1.5Tb HDD: Model Number: WDBAAF0015HBK-NESN.
I re-formatted the drive. I read on a knowledgebase article that the light(gauge) stops working. I was wondering how to shut off the light permanently?
Most people said try to get a drive with no switches, buttons or lights since drives can fail easier.
I believe with the original software that came with the drive I could shut off the light, but only when I did it every time the product was turned on (it was not permanent).
