Can I RMA a drive with a lot of Media Errors?

Hi,

I have a WDCWD20EARX22P drive that shows a Media Error Count of 1392. (RAID controller software show that)

The error count rises with about 150 each week. SMART shows no errors.

I’m not in doubt that the drive will fail completly eventualy, but do I have to wait for that? Can I RMA the drive now or do I have to wait for the drive to fail completly?

I tried writing support but they do not answer, maybe someone here know the answer.

Thank you in advance.

Hi you need to run the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic program on the drive and see what it reports.

You can replace a drive anytime during its warranty, it is not mandatory to wait until the drive fails completely.
